POP superstar Taylor Swift has pulled out of her performance at this year’s Melbourne Cup.
The American singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday 5 November, but has since cancelled the gig.
Mushroom Events confirmed in a statement this afternoon that they had “regretfully advised the Victoria Racing Club that a recent change to Taylor Swift’s Asian promotional tour means she will no longer be able to perform at this year’s Melbourne Cup.”

“Changes to her Asian promo schedule have made it logistically impossible for her to be here,” the statement said.
“To all of Taylor’s fans, we hope to see Taylor in Australia in 2020.”
Victoria Racing Chief Executive Officer Neil Wilson said the new was “disappointing for everyone”.
“The VRC has learned that Taylor Swift is now unable to make the trip to Australia and therefore cannot be with us on Melbourne Cup Day,” he said.
“Obviously, this is disappointing for everyone. We understand how important the pre-Cup entertainment is and we look forward to providing an update shortly.”
It comes after the Shake It Off singer was slammed by animal activists for her decision to take part in the Melbourne Cup celebrations.
The Victoria Racing Club said it will offer refunds to anyone who purchased Melbourne Cup Day tickets from the time Taylor Swift was announced to perform at Flemington.
