Teacher charged with sexually touching 14-year-old schoolgirl

A TEACHER aged in his 50s has been charged after allegedly sexually touching a 14-year-old girl in a classroom at a high school in the NSW Hunter Region.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested the 50-year-old man at a home in Newcastle on Thursday afternoon.

He’s accused of sexually touching the young girl during class in April 2019.


The teacher was taken to Waratah Police Station where he was charged with intentionally sexually touching a child under the age of 16.

The 50-year-old was released on strict conditional bail and was due to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Friday.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
