Teen arrested after crashing stolen car on M1

A teenage boy has been arrested after crashing a stolen car on the M1 before fleeing the scene.

A red 2007 Honda Accord lost control on the motorway at Nerang around 1.10 am, crashing into a guard rail at the Nerang River Bridge.

The occupant fled the car before jumping a fence to escape.

The Dog Squad tracked the teen down in a nearby unit complex a short time later with a 15-year-old boy taken into custody.

He is expected to be charged this morning.

The vehicle had been stolen from a home on Andrew Avenue at Broadbeach earlier in the evening.
