Teen charged after stabbing 18yo in the throat with a sword in Queensland unit

UPDATE @ 06.20AM 14/04/17 | A teenager has been charged after allegedly stabbing another teen in the neck with a sword in far north Queensland, leaving him fighting for life.

Police were called to a Cook Street address at around 5.30am on Thursday morning following reports an 18-year-old suffered serious neck injuries.

It’s believed he had left a Townsville unit and walked down the street to try and find help.

He remains in a critical condition at the Townsville Hospital.

Overnight, detectives charged another 18-year-old man with one count of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Saturday, April 15.

EARLIER @ 6.05PM 13/04/17 | A TEENAGER is fighting to stay alive in hospital after being stabbed in the throat with a sword in far north Queensland.

The 18-year-old was found staggering down Cook Street in Townsville on Thursday morning, covered in blood.

It’s understood the victim had a sword driven into his neck during a savage attack inside his Cook Street unit.

The wounded teen was rushed to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.

He has since undergone emergency surgery.

Another 18-year-old male, believed to be the victim’s flatmate, is in police custody, assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Two swords were reportedly found at the unit, which was declared a crime scene and examined by forensic police.

Investigations into the attack are continuing.
