Teen charged with “intent to murder” after Sydney knife attack

A TEENAGER has been arrested and charged with intending to murder a 17-year-old boy whom he had allegedly stabbed in a frenzied, near-fatal knife attack in suburban Sydney.

The accused, also a 17-year-old boy, allegedly ambushed his victim on a footpath on North Parade in Mt Druitt shortly after midnight on Sunday 11 September.

Police said the offending teen produced a knife and stabbed his victim. Officers arrived at the scene to find the injured teen lying on a footpath with life-threatening stab wounds.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

Following investigations, detectives yesterday attended a home in Desborough Road in Colyton and arrested the victim’s 17-year-old accused attacker.

He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was subsequently charged with affray and cause wounding to person with intent to murder.

The 17-year-old was refused bail to appear before a Children’s Court today.
