Teen charged with ‘negligent driving’ over crash that hurt mates

A teenager will face the music over a high speed crash in the NSW Northern Rivers region earlier this year, that saw a passenger flung from the vehicle he was driving.

The 17-year-old was behind the wheel of a Mazda 6 when it rolled on Wardell Road in Alstonville around 3.30pm on Wednesday 8 February.

The vehicle ended up in a nearby paddock.

A 15-year-old boy was thrown from the vehicle and taken to Lismore Base Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and three other passengers, all aged 16, were also treated at the scene and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for minor injuries.

Following investigations, the 17-year-old has been slapped with a range of charges including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He has been ordered to appear at a Children’s Court on 21 August.
