Teen charged over Logan police chase

A teenager has been charged after allegedly stealing a car and leading police on a series of chases through the streets of Logan yesterday.

Officers spotted the vehicle around 11.40am , which was allegedly taken from a Tanah Merah address earlier that morning and tried to intercept it.

Police allege the man evaded officers as it entered the Pacific Motorway and proceeded south along the M1 near Stapylton.

After losing track of the vehicle, it was sighted again around 2pm in Springwood.

Police successfully deployed tyre deflation devices on Dennis Road.

A short, low speed pursuit ensued before the vehicle came to a stop against a gutter and the driver was taken into custody.

A 17-year-old man from Parkinson has been charged with two counts of fail to stop a motor vehicle and one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrate’s Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
