Teen charged over violent stabbing in Coolangatta

A young teenager has been charged after allegedly stabbing another girl at a Coolangatta bus stop.

It’s understood a group of teenage girls were involved in an altercation at a bus stop on Griffith Street around 2.30pm on

There were reports that the girls were fighting over a boy when one stabbed the other in the stomach.


A 16-year-old girl sustained a stab wound during the incident and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital where she underwent surgery.

Detectives established a crime scene on the footpath, locking down the street for a number of hours– still searching for the alleged weapon.

A 16-year-old Tweed Heads girl has been charged with one count of unlawful wounding and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
