Teen charged over violent Helensvale car break-ins

A 17-year-old man has been charged over a series of car break-ins which resulted in a 45-year-old man being stabbed in Helensvale yesterday.

Just after 4.00am on Wednesday, the victim spotted three people allegedly breaking into cars along Monterey Keys and Lake Shore Drive.

The man gave chase to the trio, however whilst doing so he was stabbed in the throat.


Two of the offenders managed to run off, whilst a 15-year-old girl was detained by the man at the scene.

Emergency services arrived and the man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to the stab wound.

Following investigations, police charged the 17-year-old Southport man with four counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence.

The 15-year-old girl is still assisting police with enquiries.
