Teen critically injured in shopping centre knife attack

A TEENAGER is fighting for life in hospital after being stabbed in the chest outside a shopping centre in Sydney.

The 18-year-old was knifed during an altercation outside the Westpoint shopping centre at Blacktown, in the city’s greater west, shortly before 2.30pm AEDT.

Police said the victim was found on the corner of Patrick and Main streets with a stab wound to his upper torso.

He was rushed to Westmead Hospital where police say he remains in a critical condition.

Police said they have established a “large crime scene” at the shopping centre.

A short time after the attack, police arrested a 17-year-old boy at a house also in Blacktown.

He’s been taken to Blacktown Police Station where he remains this afternoon, assisting police with their inquiries.
