A TEENAGE driver has been charged after he allegedly hit and killed 20 kangaroos with his ute on the NSW South Coast.
The kangaroo massacre is alleged to have happened at Tura Beach between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, 28 September.
Police say officers were called to Dress Circle and Headland Drive about 10.15am the following day, after passersby made the grim discovery of about 20 dead kangaroos and joeys on the road.

Following ongoing investigations into the kangaroo deaths, detectives arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday.
“Police allege the kangaroos were hit by a utility being driven by the man,” NSW police said.
The teen has been charged with torture, beat etc and cause death of animal.
Bega Valley Officer in Charge, Inspector Peter Volf, said acts of animal cruelty would not be tolerated by police.
“We take incidents such as these very seriously and anyone who engages in activities such as these will face the full brunt of the law,” Chief Inspector Volf said.
The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday 26 November.
Inquiries are continuing.
