Teen driver clocked at 176km/h in 60 zone

A TEENAGER on his P-plates has lost his licence on the spot after he was allegedly clocked tearing through a 60 zone at almost 180km/h in Sydney’s west.

The 19-year-old was detected travelling at 176km/h – 110km/h over the speed limit – on Reconciliation Drive at Pemulwuy about 6am on Saturday.

Police were conducting stationary speed enforcement duties when the teen flew past them in a Ford Falcon XR6.

After intercepting the vehicle, the 19-year-old driver on his P-plates told officers he was running late for work.

His licence was suspended on the spot and he was charged with exceeding the speed by over 45km/h.

The 19-year-old is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court at a later date.
