A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has died after the car he was driving slammed head-on into a tree in central west NSW.
The crash happened on the Mitchell Highway near Trangie, west of Dubbo, around 5.30am on Sunday.
Police say the teen’s car veered off the highway and collided head-on with a tree on the side of the road.

The 17-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was trapped in the wreckage for some time while a 19-year-old man who had been sitting in the front passenger seat was rushed to Dubbo Base Hospital.
The critically injured driver was cut out of the wreck but sadly died before he could be airlifted to hosptial.
Officers from Orana Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
