Teen fighting for life after being hit by van on Pacific Highway

An 18-year-old man is in a critical condition after being hit by a van near Coffs Harbour overnight.

It’s understood two men were walking northbound on The Pacific Highway, near the Sawtell Road off-ramp, when one of the men was hit by a white van.

Police said the driver, a 44-year-old man, stopped and rendered assistance to the injured 18-year-old before emergency services attended.


He was then treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Coffs Harbour Hospital, where he remains fighting for life.

The driver was also taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital for mandatory testing, while a crime scene was established at the crash site.

The Pacific Highway was closed northbound for a short time, however, has since reopened.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam vision, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
