Teen girl arrested after stolen car crash

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested after a stolen car crashed in Tweed Heads.

A BMW was reported stolen from a home on Helen Court in Broadbeach Waters on Monday afternoon.

The resident told Police it was taken from inside an open garage while the keys had been left in the car.


An electric gate and a fence were damaged as the thieves fled in the car.

The vehicle was spotted just before 6pm on Tuesday on Guineas Creek Rd in Elanora and later on Golden Four Drive before crossing the border.

The car was found abandoned on Frances St in Tweed Heads after a crash with the offenders running from the scene.

A 15-year-old girl was located by New South Wales Police a short time later and taken into custody.

Police are still looking for the male driver.
