THE driver of a dark-coloured BMW is being urged to hand themselves into police after a teenage girl was left for dead on the side of a road in Melbourne overnight.
The girl, believed to be about 13-years-old, was riding her bike with friends when she was hit by a car at the corner of Bell and Sussex streets in Coburg just after 8.00pm.
She was treated at the scene by emergency services before being rushed to hospital, where she remains fighting for her life.

Police say the driver of the car stopped briefly before driving off from the scene.
Investigators believe the vehicle will have damage to the left hand side and front windscreen.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
