Teen girl, woman charged over Nerang knifepoint carjacking

A 14-year-old girl and her 21-year-old female accomplice have been charged over the terrifying knifepoint carjacking of a woman on the Gold Coast yesterday.

The pair is accused of ambushing the 39-year-old supermarket worker in the carpark of a shopping centre on Beaudesert-Nerang Road at Nerang around 6.00am.

They allegedly threatened the woman with a knife before stealing her vehicle.


Around an hour later, the stolen car ploughed into a light pole on Markeri Street at Mermaid Waters.

A 14-year-old Coomera girl, who was allegedly behind the wheel of the vehicle, was arrested and has since been charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Her passenger, a 21-year-old Coomera woman, has also been charged with one count of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The carjacking victim managed to escape uninjured.
