Teen hit by truck while allegedly trying to run from stolen van

A teenage boy has been hospitalised after being hit by a truck while allegedly trying to run from the scene of a suspected stolen car crash on the Gold Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Bermuda Street at Broadbeach Waters just after midday, following reports a person had been hit by a truck.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC it’s alleged the teen’s van collided with a parked car along the busy stretch of road, before he tried to make a run for it and was struck by a passing truck.

The 16-year-old suffered head and arm injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

He has since been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, where he remains under police guard.

Police said the van the teen was allegedly driving was reported stolen from a home on Essendon Court at Robina overnight.

Investigations are continuing.

If he hadn’t stole the van in the first place, he literally wouldn’t be in the position he’s in. I don’t care about his injuries, & he’s taking up valuable time in hospital for those who need ‘genuine’ care & don’t steal other people’s vehicles. Zero sympathy

We the people of Australia are sick and tired of these word like allegedly when every can see the grub running in front of the truck.Hopefully he end up like a vegetable with KARMA

Lucky he only hit a parked car could of been pedestrians.
Now two people have to go through the process of getting insurance to get them back on the road to get about their daily life.
The feral is not going to pay and will most likely get out on bail as the new laws don’t apply to car theft!
