Teen in hospital after 15yo driver crashes family car

Police have questioned a 15-year-old boy after he crashed a family car in western Sydney in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving another teenager in hospital.

Emergency services were called to McFarlane Drive, Minchinbury, after the boy apparently lost control of the Holden Commodore, swerved off the road and slammed in to a fence.

The passenger, a 14-year-old boy, received a cut to his head and a suspected broken leg.

He is receiving further treatment at The Children’s Hospital Westmead.

The teenager driver was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a negative result.

He has since been released as police continue to investigate the events leading up to the crash.

The car is understood to belong to a family member.
