Teen in serious condition after alleged stabbing at Gold Coast light rail station

A teenage boy is in a serious condition after allegedly being stabbed multiple times during a brawl in the heart of Surfers Paradise.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the fight erupted between two groups at the Cavill Avenue light rail station on Surfers Paradise Boulevard around 11.40pm on Friday.

During the altercation, a 17-year-old boy from Woodridge allegedly pulled out a knife.

He’s accused of then stabbing a 17-year-old boy from Wongawallan twice in the back.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

The 17-year-old Logan teen has since been charged with one count each of wounding and possessing a knife in a public place.

He will appear in the Southport Children’s Court this morning.

Police say investigations are continuing.
