Teen injured in horror grinder accident at Qld workplace

A teenager is in a serious but stable condition after being sliced by a grinder in a horror workplace accident in Brisbane.

Emergency crews were called to a business on Lytton Road in Hemmant just before 10.00am this morning, following reports a worker had been injured.

Upon arrival, they found a 19-year-old man with a significant chest laceration.

He was treated on scene by critical care paramedics and the high acuity response unit before being taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance Service Officer in Charge Sandra Cowley said the teen is “incredibly lucky” to have not been more seriously injured.

“The location of the injury is quite significant, it could have caused quite a lot of damage and been quite life threatening,” she said.

“This young man is incredible lucky and sustained essentially soft tissue injury with no damage to the underlying structure”.
