An Australian teenager injured in a New Zealand crash in which two Australians died is improving in hospital.
Two teachers and seven teenagers from Queenstown’s Noosa Pengari Steiner School were in a van that collided with a milk tanker on a Bay of Plenty highway on Friday afternoon.
Gabriel Runge, 16, and driver Andre Vogel, 36, were both killed, while a 16-year-old boy was critically injured and flown to Waikato hospital.

A hospital spokeswoman says he is improving but remains in a serious condition in intensive care.
The five other students, a woman in her late 40s, and the truck driver were taken to Rotorua Hospital and have been discharged.
