Teen ‘serious’ after falling from cliff in Blue Mountains

A teenager is in a serious condition after falling from a cliff in the Blue Mountains.

Emergency crews were called to the area just before 11.00am on Saturday, following reports a boy had fallen off a rock ledge at Mitchell’s Ridge Road lookout.

It’s understood the 15-year-old was abseiling with a group at Mount Victoria when he fell.

Police Rescue, the NSW Ambulance Special Operations Unit and the Rescue helicopter were all tasked to the scene.

It took specialist crews hours to retrieve the teen from the cliff edge, before he was rushed to Westmead Children’s Hospital.

Authorities confirmed he remains in a serious condition.

“This fall has provided some very serious injuries to this young man and we are concerned about his health” Detective Inspector Garry Sims said.
