A TEENAGE mother who killed her own daughter will not be jailed for the horrifying crime.
The 19-year-old woman is alleged to have killed her baby girl in the early hours of February 26 2014, before dumping her body under a tree.
A Victorian court has heard that the mother, who was 18 at the time, did not know she was pregnant until she felt her baby’s head crown.

The teen panicked and put her hand over the baby’s mouth then put the baby in a bag and left her under a tree.
Eight days later the woman reported the matter to police.
She has pleaded guilty to one count of infanticide, however at a pre-sentencing hearing today, Victorian Supreme Court Justice John Rush said he was not considering a term of imprisonment after hearing submissions about the woman’s fragile mental state.
Infanticide is the crime of a mother killing her baby while the balance of her mind is disturbed as a result of childbirth.
