Teenage boy suffers ‘life threatening’ head injuries in hit-run

A teenage boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Burleigh Waters.

The 16-year-old was attempting to cross Bermuda Street with two other boys around 9.10pm last night when he was hit by a car travelling in the southbound lanes.

The male drive of the car did not stop following the accident.


Paramedics were called to the scene where the boy was assessed as having ‘life threatening’ head injuries.

He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

A 44-year-old man is now assisting Police with their inquiries into the incident.

The Forensic Crash Unit is still investigating.
