Teenage girl dead after speeding car slams into tree

A TEENAGE GIRL has died, but her friend has incredibly survived, after their speeding car lost control and slammed into a tree in Victoria.

Emergency crews were confronted by a shocking scene when they arrived at Cooper Street in Epping around 1.10am on Friday.

Investigators believe the 15-year-old girl, from Wollert, was driving the Holden Astra when she lost control, mounted the median strip and crashed into a tree.


There are reports she was thrown from the vehicle.

She died at the scene, while her 16-year-old passenger, a Keilor girl, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are investigating if the car was stolen at the time of the incident.
