Teenager shot on balcony of Gold Coast hotel complex

Part of the Gold Coast Highway in Surfers Paradise was closed on Saturday night as Police responded to a shooting.

An 18-year-old was shot in the arm while standing on the balcony of a unit at the Tiki Hotel Apartments, on the corner of Cavill Avenue and the Highway at around 10.45pm.

Officers were called to the hotel complex and preliminary investigations indicate a gun was discharged from a neighbouring unit.

The teenager suffered a gunshot wound to his left upper arm.

He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury.

No one else was physically injured during the incident.

The Gold Coast Highway was closed between Thomas Drive and Beach Road as officers responded, but the shooter has not yet been found.
