Teens arrested after man killed in hit-and-run

TWO teenage boys have been arrested over a hit-and-run crash that killed an innocent driver in Melbourne’s northwest overnight.

Police say the victim was driving east on the Melton Highway at Taylors Lakes when around 1am this morning a stolen black Audi sedan allegedly ran a red light and crashed into his car.

The 25-year-old Gisborne man died at the scene.

Three masked men jumped out of the Audi and fled on foot along Kings Road before catching a taxi. It’s believed the trio were fleeing the scene of an attempted robbery at the time of the crash.

Two teenage boys were arrested over the hit-and-run this afternoon and are currently being questioned by detectives.

No charges have yet been laid.
