Teens arrested after stolen car tracked to coast shopping centre

There have been dramatic scenes at a Gold Coast shopping centre, with two youths pulled from a suspected stolen car and arrested in front of shocked onlookers.

Police swarmed the Harbour Town car park just before 9.00am on Wednesday, after tracking a stolen Mercedes-Benz to the complex.

Officers first spotted the vehicle travelling along the Smith Street Motorway in Southport around 8.30am this morning.


A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC officers tracked the car as it travelled towards the shopping centre with two boys inside.

Police were able to block the car in as it pulled into the car park, with the pair, aged 13 and 15, taken into custody at the scene with the help of bystanders.

They have since been taken to the local police station, where they are assisting police with enquiries.

No charges have yet been laid.

The vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a home in Pimpama overnight.
