Teens arrested over alleged carjacking, crash on Gold Coast

Three teenagers have been arrested after allegedly carjacking a ride share driver before being involved in a serious accident on the M1.

The 31-year-old driver had just filled up his car at a service station on the M1 at Coomera around 11.10pm when he was allegedly assaulted by three males.

The group then stole his Toyota Camry and fled.

The driver was not seriously injured.

Around 11.30pm, the Toyota Camry was travelling in company with a stolen Hyundai Kona in the northbound lanes of the M1.

According to Police, the Kona has clipped a Toyota RAV 4 before rolling and crashing into a guard rail.

Another car has then crashed into the Kona.

The Camry was found parked on the side of the motorway a short distance away with three boys, two aged 17 and one aged 16, taken into custody.

The occupants of the car that crashed into the Kona, a 17-year-old and 14-year-old girl, were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Queensland residents voted to maintain the governments soft stance on juvenile crime and let these criminals of with a slap on the wrist to commit again and again.
You are more likely to be seriously injured or killed by these criminals than dying from Covid 19.
Who is keeping you safe from this outbreak!

Need to start getting serious with these little trouble makers and give them a punishment that will deter them from committing more crime. Worked for us in the past , why go soft on them?
