Teens charged over dramatic stolen car chase on Gold Coast

Two teenagers have been charged after leading police on a wild chase across the Gold Coast in an alleged stolen car.

The vehicle, a white Volkswagen Golf, was allegedly stolen from a home in Burleigh Waters on Thursday morning.

Police then spotted it in Southport later that afternoon, with officers deploying road spikes to try and bring it to a halt.

The vehicle still failed to stop, with police tracking the car to Harbour Town where it then allegedly hit several cars, including four police vehicles.

The duo, two boys aged 15 and 16, were eventually arrested.

They were taken to the Southport Watchhouse where they have since been charged with a string of offences.

The 15-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess knife in public, enter premise and commit indictable offence, burglary and commit indictable offence.

While the 16-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Both were bail refused to appear before Southport Children’s Court.
