Teens charged with damaging police car in NSW

Four teenagers are accused of damaging a police car in Newcastle.

Officers were called to Hanbury Street, Mayfield, amid claims a large group of youths were playing up shortly before 12am on Saturday.

Police moved them on before returning to their vehicle when they noticed four people running east along Maitland Road.

Police gave chase and arrested four teenage boys. They were taken to Newcastle City Police Station where they were charged.

Two boys aged 14, and one boy aged 16 have been charged with destroy/damage property in company and granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday 19 December 2016.

The fourth boy, aged 16 was charged with destroy/damage property in company.

He was refused bail pending audio video link at a children’s court on Sunday.
