Teens create havoc on Gold Coast waterways

POLICE are hunting a group of thrill-seeking teenage boys who are creating havoc on our Gold Coast waterways. 

The group, known as the ‘Coomera Tinny Rats’, film themselves speeding dangerously along suburban canals and then post the footage to YouTube and boast about their antics on Facebook.

Channel Nine aired footage on Tuesday night, showing the teens hurling themselves off bridges and out of trees into the river below and damaging pontoons and property with their boats powerful spray.

In some cases, police said the force of the spray had assaulted pedestrians walking alongside the river.

Water police are concerned and say someone could end up seriously injured or killed as a result of the reckless behaviour.

“They could end up injuring or killing their mates or they could end up damaging property,” police told Channel Nine.

“We are concerned about some of the behaviour.”
