Ten people shot in New Orleans

One person has died and nine have been left injured after a shooting in New Orleans’ French Quarter overnight.

Police report the shooter opened fire shortly before 01:40 local time on Bourbon street.

Ten victims aged between 20 and 37 were shot, including two women and eight men.

The victim killed in the shooting was identified as 25-year-old tattoo artist Demontris Toliver of Baton Rouge, according to the New Orleans police department.

Police arrested two people after the incident, one of whom was also injured in the shooting.
