Tenth person arrested, charged over $165 million tax fraud

Detectives have arrested and charged a tenth person in relation to the alleged conspiracy to defraud the Commonwealth of taxation revenue totaling more than $165 million.

The 34-year-old Lavender Bay man was taken into custody following his return to Australia yesterday.

Police will allege that the man was a former director of the payroll company who continued to manage it during the conspiracy.


He has been charged with Conspiracy to defraud and is expected to appear in Central Local Court today.

His arrest brings the total number of people charged over the tax fraud to 10.

The maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years imprisonment.
