TERRIFYING | Southport servo customer threatened at gun-point by armed thief

A Gold Coaster’s simple trip to the service station has quickly turned into a terrifying experience, with the man becoming the victim of an armed hold-up in Southport.

It all started when the 50-year-old store employee noticed a man acting suspiciously outside the Nerang Street business around 9pm on Thursday.

The worker told the one customer inside to leave the store immediately before he retreated to a back room.

Unfortunately, the suspicious man entered the store before the customer had time to get out.

The offender then threatened the 59-year-old man with a gun while making demands for money.

The man told him he wasn’t an employee at the store and therefore could not open the till.

Thankfully, the would-be thief decided to run off empty handed without anyone being physically injured.

The offender is described as being aged in his 20’s and wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses and shorts.
