“The call you regret” AngryDad reveals shock cancer diagnosis

Internet sensation Mark Orval, famously known as “AngryDad”, has revealed he is battling prostate cancer.

The social media larrikin, who shot to fame in 2015 after being the subject of prank videos by his sons Mitchell and Dylan Orval, took to social media on Thursday to share the heartbreaking news with his millions of followers.

“This is the hardest post I have ever done but I feel the need to do it for several reasons,” he began.

“My life motto has and always will be about honesty, so as I go about my life I can’t be fake…. so right now when someone asks me how you going i am not going to say “I’m fine” because I’m not.”

Mr Orval revealed that several weeks ago he “got the call you regret from your GP, concerned over blood test results to do with your prostate”.

“Sadly the events that have unfolded since have confirmed I have an aggressive prostate cancer,” he said.

The former AFL sportsman, who played seven games for Collingwood before being forced to call it quits due to injury, said “exactly what this all means right at this minute is still unknown”.

“More tests are required urgently to check for spreading beyond the prostate, at which point the final treatment plan will be formalised,” he said.

“Whilst this is a very private matter I feel the immediate need to share this as a message to ALL men that are at risk of this disease to GET TESTED.

“I regrettably missed my annual test last year due to Covid and whilst that now doesn’t matter and can’t change things it highlights the importance of regular tests. 12 months earlier my results were perfect!”

The devastating diagnosis comes just months after Mr Orval’s mother lost her life to cancer.

“Clearly having just buried my mum a few months ago from Cancer it’s a massive shock to me but it’s the cards I have been dealt,” he said.

“This isn’t about sympathy, rather it’s about highlighting the reality of life as i am not the first and won’t be the last to face a life challenge and believe me I will hit this harder than i have ever hit anything in my life!

The post has since been flooded with thousands of comments from people all around the world.

“That’s incredibly difficult news for you and the family I’m so sorry. You have got this though mate! Keep strong and we’re all thinking of you,” Australia’s Got Talent star Taylor Henderson wrote.
