The UK is freaking out over Nigella Lawson’s buttered toast recipe
As the UK faces the prospect of harsh lockdowns for the Christmas period, it seems people are really only concerned with one thing this week and it’s buttered toast.
More specifically, how Nigella Lawson butters HER toast.
The celebrity chef appeared on an episode of her BBC2 series Cook, Eat, Repeat, with a completely legitimate segment on how best to butter your toast.
To be fair, she’s probably the only person in the world that could offer advice on how exactly you should be buttering your toast, but the internet’s had an absolute freak out over her method and we’re just not getting it.
“The moment this came out of the toaster and was lovely and hot, I spread it with butter, so the butter has melted down into it and it’ll give it a fabulous, crumpety bite,” she explains on camera.
“Stage two now, ready for it, I need a little more butter and it will stay in some golden patches on the surface.
“It is unsalted butter, which I always prefer to use, but what I need to do is sprinkle some seasalt flakes over. This is the platonic ideal of toast,” she says.
Shook to the core that #Nigella invented buttered toast 😮 Mr.Warburton is SHAKING! pic.twitter.com/IWAh1HZ0Z1

That’s just about the summary of her little how-to-toast segment. But people have gone crazy over it online.
What do you reckon, Oz?
I mean I still can’t get over your double buttered toast, a real “why didn’t I think of that” treat 😆

So you get that salted butter, and butter with actual salt on toast do not taste the same.

I woke up early enough to watch the morning News and it is a complete waste of my time.
They're priming us for Christmas by talking about Nigella Lawson double buttering her toast and the English are furious.
