Would-be thief escapes empty handed in Waterford West

There has been at attempted armed robbery in Waterford West.

It is alleged that a man walked into a service station on Chambers Flat Road at around 1:30am on Monday morning and pulled out a knife before telling the staffer he wanted cigarettes.

When the 21-year-old staff member refused, the man ran off.

Police later arrested a man at a home in Logan Reserve where he was taken into custody.

The 20-year-old has been charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.
