Thief steals car from driveway with 5yo girl inside
UPDATE @ 2.30pm: Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car with a five-year-old girl inside.
Police say the youngster was sitting inside a BMW which was parked in the driveway of a home in Wyndham Vale when an opportunist thief jumped in the front seat and took off around 6.30am.
After being alerted to the incident, police spotted the stolen BMW in Norlane just after 7.00am and commenced a pursuit, forcing the car to stop.
The man then ran from the scene on foot, leaving the young girl in the car.
Following investigations, an 18-year-old man was arrested about 1.30pm in Norlane.
He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

EARLIER @ 7.50am: A five-year-old girl has been found safe and well after a car she was sitting in was stolen from a driveway in Melbourne this morning.
Police say the youngster was sitting inside a BMW which was parked in the driveway of a home in Wyndham Vale when an opportunist thief jumped in the front seat and took off around 6.30am.
After being alerted to the abduction, police spotted the stolen BMW in Norlane just after 7.00am and commenced a pursuit, forcing the car to stop.
The man, who remains on the run, fled the scene leaving the five-year-old girl in the vehicle.
