Thieves on the run after armed hold-ups across the Gold Coast

POLICE are on the hunt for two men believed to be responsible for two frightening armed robberies on the Gold Coast overnight.

Just before midnight on Sunday, a 65-year-old woman drove into the garage of a home in Glenny Drive, Mudgeeraba, when a man armed with a hammer walked up and demanded she open the car door.

The woman refused and quickly backed out of the driveway and drove to a nearby family member’s home in Clover Hill Drive.

However, the armed man followed her in a small red sedan, which is believed to have had another man inside.

The thief then stole a black 2014 Audi A3 sedan which had been parked in the driveway before both cars sped away from the scene.

A couple of hours later, two men in the stolen Audi approached a man and woman walking down Casino Drive at Broadbeach.

The pair threatened the couple, a 30-year-old man and 28-year-old woman from Singapore, before stealing the woman’s handbag.

Both offenders are described as tall and were wearing dark clothing, long black pants, long sleeve top and a black mask over their face.

Investigations into both incidents are continuing with police urging anyone who sights the stolen black 2014 Audi A3 sedan, with Queensland registration 767-VOS, to not approach the vehicle but to immediately call Triple Zero (000).
