Thieves smash way into Gold Coast chemist and convenience store

Investigations are underway after a chemist and convenience store were targeted by thieves on the Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC the first break-in occurred at Benowa around 2.20am.

A stolen white 2014 Landrover Range Rover Evogue with Qld registration SHAR11 reversed into the front of a convenience store at the intersection of Benowa Road and Collins Crescent.

The offenders got out of the luxury SUV and attempted to smash through the glass doors, however were spooked by a member of the public and took off empty handed.

Around an hour later, a trio of thieves in the same white Landrover Range Rover Evoque smashed their way into a chemist on Eggersdorf Road at Ormeau.

They managed to get away with an unknown amount of property.

“Police have established the vehicle used in both incidents was stolen from Ormeau on November 18,” the police spokesperson said.

Investigations are continuing.
