Thieves target Gold Coast chemists in early morning crime spree

Thieves are on the run after breaking into three chemists in Logan and the Gold Coast in the early hours of this morning.

Police say they’re investigating the possibility that the break-ins are linked, because of the similar way that the thieves gained access to the chemists.

The first one happened around 2.40am this morning, when a large rock or piece of concrete was thrown through the front glass window of a pharmacy on Waldron Street in Yarrabilba.

Two males then stormed into the business and placed a number of items in a bag before exiting through the smashed glass window.

Then at 3.50am, a chemist on Maudsland Road at Oxenford and one on Egeersdorf Road both had a similar object thrown through their windows to gain entry.

Police say that the thieves got away with medication and prescription drugs.

Investigations are ongoing.
