Third man charged over violent M1 assault as police release vision

UPDATE @ February 27, 6.15 AM | A THIRD man has now been charged after a man was seriously injured in an alleged road rage attack on the side of the M1 at Yatala on Saturday.

The 28-year-old from Upper Coomera was arrested by detectives on Monday and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

It comes after two men, a 26-year-old Surfers Paradise man and 27-year-old Ormeau man, were also charged over the horror attack.


The trio are due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.

Brock Prime, 29, remains in a critical condition at the Gold Coast University Hospital following the assault.

Detectives are continuing to ask for anyone who may have witnessed the incident and has not yet contacted them or has dash cam footage taken in the vicinity of the M1 between Pimpama and Yatala from around 9:30pm to the time of the incident to come forward.

They’ve also released footage of the moment leading up to the alleged assault on the M1 (see video below).

EARLIER @ February 26, 2.00pm | Two men, aged in their 20s, have been remanded in custody for their alleged roles in a horrific road rage assault on the M1.

Neither Jonathan Lawrence or Jordan Baklas appeared in court today, after being charged with grievous bodily harm.

They’ll both front court again tomorrow.

Police accuse the pair of being part of a larger group which attacked 29-year-old Brock Prime on Saturday night at Yatala.

It’s understood there was up to 13 people in the group, with some of them armed.

Mr Prime was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, police have released vision in relation to the assault and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
