UPDATE @ 2.15 PM | Power has now been restored to thousands of homes across the Gold Coast following a mass blackout.
The outage struck around 12.30pm on Thursday, leaving homes and businesses in Palm Beach, Elanora and Currumbin Waters without power for more than an hour-and-a-half.
More than 9000 properties were affected, with Energex crews called in to fix the issue which was all up and running again by 2.15pm.

It’s not yet known what caused the outage.
EARLIER @ 12.30 PM | More than 9000 homes across the Gold Coast are currently without power this afternoon.
The mass blackout struck around 12.00pm and is currently affecting several suburbs on the southern end of the city.
Palm Beach appears to be the most affected, with more than 4000 homes and businesses without power.
In Elanora, more than 3800 properties are blacked out, while more than 1450 homes in Currumbin Waters are also without power.
Energex says the cause of the outage is currently ‘under investigation’.
Crews are desperately working to restore power as soon as possible.
