Thousands of Mazdas recalled over fears “wheels could fall off”
THOUSANDS of Mazda 3 vehicles have been recalled over fears the wheels could call off while driving.
It’s just one of three major recalls affecting Mazda, Jeep and Dodge after a number of safety issues were detected.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued the recalls on Thursday over a range of issues such as loose bolts, defective brakes and incorrectly installed windshields.
According to Mazda, the wheel studs on some of its recent Mazda 3’s may not have been properly installed during manufacture, leaving a small gap between the studs and hub assembly.
In a statement, Mazda said a “rattling noise” can be heard before the wheel detaches from the vehicle.
There are reportedly 3,323 Mazdas affected.
The company will contact all affected owners, who will need to take their vehicle to a Mazda dealer to be rectified free of charge.
