AFTER a week of intense competition, plenty of fun and stunning conditions, the Australian University Games is over for another year.
More than 8,300 student athletes from 42 tertiary institutions across Australia, took part in 34 sports at dozens of venues across the Gold Coast.
The University of Sydney emerged victorious, named the Overall Champion University for a second year, snaring 15 of the 64 gold medal pennants on offer.

The John White Spirit of the Games trophy, awarded to the university that displays outstanding sportsmanship, fair play and respect for self and others was awarded to The University of Western Australia.
Event partner Bond University kept the Doug Ellis Per Capita trophy for the third year in a row, recognised as the university that has won the most pennants per student numbers.
Held on the Glitter Strip every two years, the event is a major tourist boost for the region.
