Thousands pack stadium for Spice Girls epic reunion concert

ICONIC 90s pop group the Spice Girls have kicked off their reunion tour in front of a packed stadium in Ireland.

Ticket holders ran through the gates at Croke Park in Dublin on Friday night (local time) to get the best spot in the standing area, while thousands of others crammed into the stadium seating for a high energy performance.

The famous five may be down to a four-some, with Victoria Beckham (Post Spice) refusing to take part in the reunion, but that didn’t bother fans so much as the obvious change in wardrobe.

Gone are the days of Geri (Ginger Spice) wearing crotch-high dresses. The now mum-of-two instead went for a more tame look of floor-length gowns as she strutted the stage.

The other three, Mel B (Scary Spice), Mel C (Sporty Spice) and Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) kept things real, wearing costumes akin to their hey day as they sang all their hits, including WannabeStopSpice World and many others, to the 80,000 screaming fans.

In the lead up to the start of their epic reunion tour, the group was keeping fans updated on their social media channels about all the behind-the-scenes action.

While Victoria sent out a best wishes message to her gal pals, with the hashtag FriendshipNeverEnds – a line from their breakout song Wannabe.

The Spice Girls are touring the UK over the next three weeks, but at this stage have not released any plans to visit Australia.
