“This week’s $40 million Powerball draw is the largest jackpot currently offered by an Australian lottery game,” she said.
“It is also only the fourth time this year that Powerball has offered a $40 million jackpot.
“However, in the three previous draws, no one took home the $40 million prize, and instead the jackpot soared higher for the following weeks’ draws.”
The last time someone scored a $40 million Powerball prize was in November last year, when a Cairns healthcare worker took out the win and celebrated with a shower.
Ms Ramsamy said she had two tips for anyone keen for the chance to become a Powerball winner.
“If you want a chance to become an overnight multi-millionaire, then you do need to purchase an entry before the draw closes, so we recommending getting in early to avoid missing out,” she said.
She also recommended people register their entry to a player card so they can easily be contacted if their lucky numbers are drawn.
The $40 million Powerball draw closes at 7:30pm AEST and 8.30pm ADST tonight…
