Three charged after gun point robbery attempt leads to drug bust, Gold Coast

Three people have been arrested after an attempted robbery that led to a police chase and the discovery of hydroponic drugs.

Officers were called to an address on 28th Avenue in Palm Beach just after midnight, following reports a man had stormed the home with a gun trying to rob the occupants.

The would-be robber then fled in a white Toyota Hiace, which police tracked down to the Gold Coast Highway.


It failed to stop for police, though eventually came to a stop on 27th Avenue where a male passenger got out of the vehicle.

That man was taken into custody at the scene, though the driver of the vehicle drove away.

The car was later found abandoned in 27th Avenue.

Subsequent investigations led police to a unit at 28th Avenue where they located two other men who allegedly resisted police.

Inside the unit police allegedly located a hydroponics drug set up.

A 21-year-old man was given a notice to appear for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and resist arrest.

A 57-year-old man has been charged with drug production.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with resist arrest.

Police say they have not yet received a complaint about the earlier attempted robbery incident, though investigations are ongoing.
